I don’t know how much longer I can take football. It’s starting to change radically to avoid injuries and celebrations. The excessive celebration rule was created in 2004, but was modified in 2011 to include things like: must stay on your feet, no push-ups, sit-ups, boat rowing, snow angels, or worm crawls. And can’t use the ball as a prop. These sound like rules that Kim Jong Il would make. I’ll give you some examples of why it’s called the No Fun League.
1) Saints running back Pierre Thomas puts a bow on the football on Christmas Day and gets a penalty.
2) Wes Welker gets fined $10,000 for wearing the hat for an energy bar he promotes in the post game press conference. He never had a warning and this was the 17th week in a row that he had worn it.
3) Reggie Bush gets fined for scoring in a snowstorm and sliding out the back of the endzone.
4) Buffalo Bills receiver Steve Johnson gets 15 yard penalty for lifting up his jersey after scoring to display Happy New Year written on his tshirt. He also got a penalty for pretending to shoot himself in the leg (think plaxico) after another score this year.
These fines are just getting out of control. I love the creativity involved in coming up with an original celebration. Your kids will never see fun touchdown celebrations unless they are watching a movie. Watch a football movie and look at the touchdown celebrations they do. They would be fined and penalized for most of them.
They just can't have players holding up the natural fast paced flow of the game......
ReplyDeleteIt would mean two less tv time outs or 4 minutes less of grays anatomy.
They also can't have you wearing your hat for superstamina bars during the sprint nextel dodge coke gatoraid bettycrocker post game show. It's just bad form.
they fine for everything, its unbelievable. nfl is just greedy, they look for every way they can squeeze extra money out of football games.
ReplyDeletethey called the welker fine: wearing a hat without permission. wtf?
they should fine some of these coaches for looking homeless on teh sidelines, the cowboys coach looks like a bum. soon they'll fine andy reid for being too fat.
I'm waiting for the NFL to fine QB's that keep throwing after their team is up 45-0. Maybe after someone gets all butthurt about it they'll start throwing fines out left and right.
ReplyDeleteAnd they get pissed when you don't start your best guys or treat every game like it matters like the Saints did they year they were in line for a perfect season.
ReplyDeleteWWNFL here we come. Predetermined outcomes and more fireworks. It's gonna be great.
I'm Ron Burgundy?
ReplyDeleteboat rowing.....wtf?
