This idea came to me in a dream. I was gonna put it in the homemade meme's post but nobody would go back and see it.

movie WTF: terminator

I think we all like to pick movies apart, especially sci fi movies.  as I watch something, i'm always thinking of what the characters should have done or why something doesnt make sense.  i'm gonna try to write these things down and explain why certain parts of movies are stupid.  the only rule is, you have to accept the rules of the movie.  for example, you can't debate how impossible it would be to create dinosaurs in jurassic park.  they tell you the guy made a T-rex, you must believe it.  however, you can complain about their dependence on electricity when they are on a tiny island.

heres my first attempt.  (keep in mind sometimes i might be wrong, so just correct me if something was actually explained in teh movie, i'll probably write stuff about movies i havent seen in over a decade)

Terminator

I’m sure there are tons of things you could argue with in the terminator series.  They have ridiculous things from self aware time traveling robots to heart transplants in the middle of the desert.  I’m not going to get into that, somehow my brain is able to accept those things.  However there are some things that bother me.

1. sending people back in time.

 I get it, you figured out time travel.  You must accept that time travel is possible in order to even watch these movies.  What I don’t understand is why neither the humans nor the robuts bring their future guns with them when they come back.  The movie gives an explanation that only living material can be sent back through time.  ok, makes sense…. I guess. (it actually makes no sense why that would be a constraint, but again, must accept the rules of the movie)

Here’s my idea

robots:  you already wrapped an entire metal endoskeleton in skin and sent that back, wrap a space gun and send that as well, or better yet, put the gun right in the terminators leg and he just pulls it out after traveling back in time.  

humans:  I understand they had less of a chance to prepare for time travel.  Reese says that they found the “time displacement equipment” in a factory, they sent him back in time and then destroyed the place (I’m guessing they took off and nuked it from orbit) 

however, I’m guessing you killed some terminators to get into the place or had some teammates killed, so take a gun, jam it inside their skin and then go in the time machine.

Also, how did the humans know that only living tissue will go through? “they didn’t build the fucking thing” as reese points out to one officer. So how did they know its capabilities.

2. how can john connor even exist?

John connor is created when kyle reese, who is sent back in time, bangs sarah connor.  I know time travel is confusing, so I’m going to try and simplify it to show the way I see it.

 

There has to be an original timeline.  John connor can not be kyle reese’s son in that original timeline.  Maybe he had another dad in the original timeline and still became the leader of the humans? Seems unlikely.

With this same theory, I also wonder how skynet can even exist. Miles Dyson says that his company reverse engineered the technology from this hand and compu chip they found to make skynet.  How did they make skynet originally?

also, think about this, some people say that there is no origin line of time, that events that happened have always happened and will always happen (that of course is nonsense), but if that was true. then terminators created their own worst enemy by inventing time travel, because that allowed reese to go back in time to create john conner.  so even though they invented time travel to kill him, they actually created him with it? somehow that doesnt make sense.

3. At one point, reese escapes the police station with the teminator right behind him, somehow the T1000's microprocessor is unable to calculate the speed and horsepower that a 1984 caprice classic is capable of producing.  he crashes into a wall (that alone is pretty dumb) but instead of chasing reese and sarah, he runs away to some apartment to fix his eye.  i was told "all he does is kill, he doesnt eat, sleep, and he definitely doesnt stop when he has his victims hurt and limping away to fix his eye." -kyle reese

MMA Discussion - UFC on FOX 2

UFC on Fox 2 is called "Evans vs Davis" but I'm going to talk mostly about the real main event here......

Sonnen vs Bisping.

When Munoz got injured the first thing that came out of my mouth was "Fuuuuuuuuck" because I thought I was going to be Sonnen-less for the next UFC on Fox. Then Dana White made a decision and made my dreams come true with a Sonnen vs Bisping fight (winner gets a title shot).

Now I know a ton of people that hate Sonnen and there are even more who hate Bisping. This is like when the WWE has 2 heels fighting over a title shot, then the Rock would come in, Rock bottom both heels, pose on the ring post, grab a mic, cut a 20 minute Promo, then leave. "If ya smellllllllllllllll lalalalalalala". I don't think that will happen on Saturday because Anderson Silva can't cut a promo.

Why Sonnen wins this: Wrestling, Trash Talking, America (Fuck Yeah), Granite Chin, Ground n Pound
I am gonna say this....Sonnen knows how to win. Say what you will but he actually put a beating on Anderson Silva that day, and was a few minutes away from being the MW Champ....then getting stripped of the title because he was TRT'ed up. The guy has the best wrestling @ MW, and knows how to control his opponent via Ground N Pound.


Why Bisping wins: Striking, BJJ
In the stand up, Bisping has a better kickboxing base than most. He also has a good ground game. Do I ever see him as a contender.....not really but if he wants a shot @ the title he's going to have to bring his "A" game (not the one he brought against Hendo). If he's smart, he'll get taken down and hold Sonnen in his Guard, until Sonnen leaves his arms out.....boom, triangle, but I can honestly see Bisping hitting an armbar here.

He was taken down a few times in his fight with Hamill, and even was taken down by Mayhem before he gassed. I don't know if Chael has the power standing but he coould tko bisping on the ground.

Who wins and why? Sonnen by Decision

Bisping will take a beating. He will throw every submission in the book: Armbar, Triangle, Rear Naked Choke, Moss covered three handled family grudunzle, etc. But in the end, Sonnen will be the winner. His wrestling and GnP is too strong for Bisping to handle.

Now if Bisping locks up the triangle, and wins, this will be my reaction.

RE:0 Summary

Might as well start at the beginning.

RE:0 Summary:

1920s – Ozwell Spencer and Edward Ashford found Umbrella Inc. after discovering the Mother Virus in Africa. Their idea is to use pharmaceutical advances to create powerful bio organic weapons and sell to the highest bidder.

1950s – Mother virus refined into Progenitor virus.

1970s – Edward Ashford is killed accidentally by his son, leaving Spencer in complete control of Umbrella. Dr. James Marcus develops the Progenitor Virus into the T-virus by combining the Progenitor with the DNA from a leech. If anyone got in his way, he made them test subjects, which is one of the reasons he had a breakthrough so quickly.

1988 – James Marcus is assassinated by Ozwell Spencer and his research is taken over by Albert Wesker and William Birkin. His experimental leeches are nearly wiped out, but the queen manages to find his body and somehow merge with him and reanimate his body.

May 1998 – James Marcus in leech form, starts his revenge against Umbrella. He releases the T-Virus in the labs.

June 1998 – Most of the staff have succumbed to the T-Virus. Cerberus (zombie dogs) have escaped and gotten into the Raccoon forest.

July 1998

In the Mid Western United States, Raccoon City. A passenger Train, The Ecliptic Express, is hit with hundreds of mutated leeches. The train stops. A young man in white robes (James Marcus) stands on a hill nearby.
A military transport vehicle is also hit by the leeches. The soldiers are killed but the prisoner they are transporting, Billy Coen, escapes.

Rebecca Chambers and the rest of STARS Bravo team (see below*) are in a helicopter investigating recent murders in the suburbs of Raccoon City, (you may recognize this from the opening text of RE1). They have engine problems and are forced to land. The team discovers the military vehicle and dead soldiers. They find the orders to transport Billy Coen for execution and assume he killed everyone and escaped. Rebecca separates from the group and finds Billy onboard the Ecliptic Express. Ed Dewey (Stars Bravo Team) makes it onto the train to escape zombie dogs, but he dies from his wounds. They discover there’s a lot of creatures on the train and they will have to work together to survive. There are some very tough creatures composed entirely of leeches. Somehow a giant scorpion is also on the train, along with your run of the mill zombies and zombie dogs. Of course there are puzzles required to access different areas of the train. Luckily they find the Hookshot to get on the roof to access other cars. They also find information that the train didn’t contain passengers, but a cleanup team sent from Umbrella. They overhear radio communication sent from Albert Wesker and William Birkin to some of the surviving cleanup team, but they don’t know who is talking. The instructions are to destroy the train. The remaining cleanup team members are killed by leeches before they are able to. Rebecca sees the man in white on the hill, then the train starts up and they have to find a way to stop it and get off. Eventually they find a way to activate the brakes.

The train ends up crashing safely into the underground floor of an Umbrella Facility that looks like a mansion. They make their way through the mansion. Markings on the floor state that it is the Umbrella Research Center. Rebecca starts to realize that Billy is a good guy and was unjustly sentenced for war crimes because he didn’t want to kill innocent civilians. They mow down hunters, zombies, giant crickets, and a centipede of unusual size. They even kill mutated baboons that have a better chin than the Diaz brothers. These things can take a hit and keep coming. Throughout the mansion, recordings play over loudspeakers that have Dr. Marcus “pep talks” for the employees. There is a portrait of James Marcus looking really old on the wall which has a plaque that reads “First General Manager.” Rebecca thinks it looks like man in white, except the man she saw is much younger than in the picture. Wesker and Birkin see Rebecca and Billy on the security cameras. They also see the man in white in the facility. The man in white seems to know he’s being watched, he claims he will get revenge on Umbrella.

Rebecca and Billy find Dr. James Marcus’ private office and diary which states he was in charge of 2 promising researchers, which he nicknamed “Practical Al” and “Scholar Will.” He would make them compete against each other as motivation. They also find torture and prison areas where he Marcus kept his human experiments. Meanwhile, Birkin and Wesker have discovered that the man in white really is James Marcus. They are aware that Ozwell Spencer had Dr. Marcus assassinated and that they have to cover it up. Wesker intends to leave Umbrella once he has enough combat test data for the T-virus. He intends to use the STARS as combat test subjects (RE1). Birkin just wants more time to work on his G-virus (RE2). They are going to hit the self destruct on the facility to destroy all the evidence.

Rebecca and Billy manage to rotate the observatory so that another exit opens. This leads towards an old chapel. They have to kill a giant bat inside, and then they’re able to take an elevator down to the secret lab. They get separated and Rebecca takes a cable car to explore further. The cable car arrives at a railroad turntable (same one from RE2 which Claire and Leon will use in about 2 months in RE2). She meets up with Enrico (bravo team leader). After killing a Tyrant, she takes an elevator to a couple different floors in this complex. She finds Billy washed up on the bottom level. They make their way into a nearby factory. They are confronted by Marcus. They still don’t believe it’s him because he would be much older. His face changes to show his old age. He’s actually made up of leeches and can appear however he wants. He attacks them and they take an elevator to the top level of the factory. He chases them up and turns into a gigantic leech monster. Billy distracts him while Rebecca activates the four controls that open the ceiling. The bright light from the sun dries out the leech and kills him. The self destruct has been activated, so they escape the building quickly. Rebecca sees the Spencer Mansion a few miles away and decides to head for it. She takes Billy’s dog tags and says she will report him deceased. Billy says thanks and heads off in a different direction. Obviously Birkin and Wesker escaped too.

*Fate of Bravo Team members
Kenneth Sullivan is the guy being eaten by the first zombie you encounter in Resident Evil 1 after going through the dining room.
Forrest Speyer is found infected on the 2^nd floor of the Spencer Mansion on the East outside walkway. He chases you with the quickness.
Enrico Marini (team leader) is found in the mining tunnels, he tells you the STARS were betrayed, but gets shot before he can say by whom.
Richard Aiken is found in the Spencer Mansion, poisoned by Yawn (giant snake). He is either killed by the Yawn or Neptune (shark) depending on your actions.
Ed Dewey makes it onto the Ecliptic Express but dies of dog bites; he comes back as a zombie before the train crashes.
Rebecca is rescued by Chris Redfield in the Spencer Mansion.

Random thoughts:
1) While everyone else is all bitter about Raccoon city being destroyed and having their family turn into zombies, Billy Coen stays positive. He has the most beneficial outcome from the outbreaks of any person in the RE series. He’s being taken to his execution when he gets a chance to escape, and ends up running free at the end of the game. He probably even got a handy from Rebecca in one of the save rooms. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade, but when life gives you T-Virus, make iced T.

2) Billy’s war crimes were from refusing to kill innocent villagers in Africa. I was hoping he would either appear or be mentioned in RE5 since they were in Africa. He doesn’t make an appearance in any other game besides 0.

3) If Marcus would’ve stayed dead, everyone in Raccoon city would’ve been fine. He’s the reason all the outbreaks started.

4) Maybe next time send the Alpha team in first.

MMA Discussion - Sonnen vs Bisping

@ 5pm Dana White posted on his twitter that Munoz was hurt and now Chael Sonnen will be fighting Bisping for a title shot on next weeks UFC on Fox.

Game Summary

If I asked some of you what your favorite RPG was, I'm sure one answer would keep coming up. But do you actually know what happened in the story? It's quite complicated and I didn't realize what actually happened until quite recently when I replayed it. I tried to condense my summary as much as possible.

FFVII Summary

The planet contains a lifestream that is magical energy. The Cetra land on the planet and settle amongst the humans already living there. Awhile later, Jenova lands on the planet, creating a huge wound that is now the north crater. The planet creates Weapons to deal with the threat. Jenova pretends to be a Cetra and wipes out most of them, but they manage to destroy Jenova. The weapons created by the planet go into hibernation since there is no threat.

2,000 years pass.

The Shinra Company becomes very powerful after discovering a way to harness the power of the planet’s lifestream to create Mako energy. Mako is what planets crave. Shinra is so big that it runs the government of the city of Midgar. It has its own elite armed forces called SOLDIER.

Professor Gast finds Jenova while excavating in Mount Nibel. He believes she is a Cetra (sometimes called an Ancient in the game) and studies her. Shinra gets involved with funding and send Hojo, Lucrecia, and Vincent Valentine to help with the Jenova Project. The goal is to create humans with the power of the Cetra. Vincent falls in love with Lucrecia and she falls in love with Hojo. Hojo is having no luck in his experiments and believes that testing on fully developed humans is the problem. He does the horizontal polka with her until she’s preggers and injects her with Jenova cells. She mutates and gets special powers after giving birth, then runs away. Vincent gets mad and Hojo pimp slaps him and does some experiments on him. Vincent pretty much becomes a vampire and goes into seclusion. Hojo leaves Jenova in the Mt. Nibel Mako Reactor. He takes his kid to Shinra HQ and names him…..wait for it… Sephiroth.

Professor Gast leaves to search for more info on the ancients and ends up in Cosmo Canyon. He meets Ifalna who is an ancient. Gast gets Ifalna to derelict his balls and then Aeris is born. Hojo, who can track a falcon on a cloudy day, finds them. He kills Gast and takes Ifalna and Aeris prisoner in Midgar. They escape but Ifalna dies. Aeris is left to live with a woman in the slums of Midgar.

Cloud and Tifa grow up in Nibelheim. They are little more than acquaintances.

Meanwhile, Sephiroth is in SOLDIER kicking ass and chewing gum, but he’s all out of gum. Cloud decides to join SOLDIER. Cloud has major mental issues and no confidence. He doesn’t make it into SOLDIER, but enters the Shinra army.

Zack, Cloud, and Sephiroth (these 3 people are important, it’s a major point in the story) are sent to Nibelheim Reactor, cloud’s home town. Cloud hides his identity so Tifa won’t see that he is in the regular army and not in SOLDIER. Tifa leads them to the Mako reactor. Strange experiments are left inside. Sephiroth finds notes of the Jenova Project and starts to realize his origins may be from experiments like these. He decides that Jenova is his mother and that he is an Ancient. He believes all humans are traitors because they allowed the Ancients to be wiped out. Sephiroth sets the whole town of Nibelheim on fire, then grabs Jenova’s body from the reactor. Zack, Cloud and Tifa attack Sephiroth and all 4 are wounded. Sephiroth falls off a bridge into the lifestream of the planet. Tifa is rescued and taken to Midgar. Cloud, Zack and any other surviving residents of Nibelheim are used by Hojo to create clones of Sephiroth, now that the original is believed to be dead. Shinra rebuilds the town and repopulates it so it looks like nothing happened.

While in the lifestream, Sephiroth assimilates the knowledge of the Ancients. He learns about the planet’s ability to heal itself after it is wounded. His plan is to summon meteor and do major damage to the planet. When the planet’s energy rushes there to fix itself, he will absorb it and become all powerful. He also realizes he can control the clones created by Hojo and project himself psychically. He can probably start fires with his thoughts.

Barret and Tifa form AVALANCHE to get revenge on Shinra. Zack and Cloud escape from Nibelheim where they are being experimented on. Cloud is really messed up from the experiments. Zack dresses him in a spare SOLDIER uniform. During their escape, Zack tells Cloud about his days in SOLDIER. Shinra catches Zack and Cloud. Zack is killed but Cloud comes to his senses and manages to escape. However, his mind has taken Zack’s stories to be his own experiences and he now has personality conflicts. He meets Tifa and joins AVALANCHE.

Here is where the game begins. Cloud hears Sephiroths Voice and has flashbacks throughout the game.

AVALANCHE blows up one of the Mako reactors in Midgar and it lights up like the 4th of july (naw but there was a large explosion though). They set out to take out another Mako reactor. While they are escaping from setting the bombs cloud is knocked off a platform and lands in a church. He meets Aeris. They meet up with Tifa and discover Shinra is going to destroy the entire slum that AVALANCHE is located in. They try to stop Shinra but are unsuccessful. They raid Shinra HQ and find Red XIII. They escape from Shinra HQ in a high speed chase.

The group arrives in Kalm. Cloud tells them what happened in Nibelheim, but he tells it from Zack’s point of view. He can’t separate his memories from Zack’s. They all go to Junon Port, the one with the giant canon. Cloud disguises himself to sneak into the Shinra parade. He learns that Shinra is also looking for Sephiroth. The group takes a boat to Costa Del Sol. While on the boat they are attacked by Sephiroth (psychic projection – Sephiroth is in the North crater for the entire game).

They go to Corel which leads to the Golden Saucer. Here the manager asks them about Black Materia, saying that another person in a “black cloak” was asking him about it. Cait Sith joins their party. He is actually a robot controlled by Reeve, who is from Shinra. They all go to Cosmo Canyon, Red XIII’s home, and learn about the lifestream. It turns out the planet is dying because the Mako energy is being sucked from it.

They return to Nibelheim and discover that it isn’t destroyed even though they saw it burn down. It's like they're taking crazy pills. Vincent Valentine joins the group. They confront Sephiroth in the laboratory. He was there reading about the Jenova Project. Sephiroth flies out of the laboratory. The group goes to Rocket Town and Cid Highwind joins the group. There is an abandoned rocket in the town that never took off. They take his plane the Tiny Bronco to Temple of the Ancients to acquire the Ultimate Destruction Magic. Tifa realizes that cloud is pretending to be Zack. Cloud’s personality is starting to split in two. They solve some puzzles to get the Black Materia. Cloud holds it. Then Sephiroth appears and makes Cloud hand him the Black Materia. Cloud passes out afterwards.

Aeris leaves for the City of the Ancients. The rest of the group goes to Bone Village, which leads to the City of the Ancients. They find Aeris praying to summon holy. Sephiroth appears and totally stabs her, and she suffers the kind of death that can’t be fixed with a phoenix down.

The group decides they must stop Sephiroth and they make their way to the North crater. Tifa and Cloud separate from the group and they are attacked mentally by Sephiroth. He plays with Cloud's memories, showing them the day in Nibelheim when they attacked Sephiroth. He shows what actually happened, but Cloud is convinced that he was in Zack’s place. Sephiroth lies to him and tells him that he has no past, he only stole all Zack’s memories. Cloud tries to remember how he got into SOLDIER and can’t. Then he collapses when he thinks that Sephiroth may be right.

Sephiroth summons a huge meteor. One of the Weapons created by the planet attacks the North crater and everyone makes it out except Cloud, who falls into the lifestream. The group is told that the lifestream has a hole in the ocean floor by Mideel. They go to Mideel and find Cloud in a coma. Tifa stays with him and the others go to Mako reactors and steal Huge Materia to try and destroy the meteor. One of the Weapons attacks Mideel, knocking Tifa and Cloud into the lifestream. Tifa and Cloud go through his memories while in the lifestream and figure out that he does have a past, he was just confused with Zack’s memories. Everyone gets on board the rocket with the huge materia and they crash it into the meteor, but it’s not enough to stop it. Luckily several of the escape pods weren’t jettisoned, and they were able to escape. They discover that Aeris was trying to summon Holy, which might be the only thing that can stop Meteor, but Sephiroth is blocking it. So basically just kill Sephiroth and everything will be fine. They go to the North Crater and defeat Sephiroth, but he attacks Cloud’s mind. Cloud learns his final limit break Omnislash and kills Sephiroth. The meteor is still coming. It crashes into Midgar, but holy prevents the meteor from landing. Meteor and holy’s energy destroy Midgar. After everything is gone you can see Aeris smiling at you.

500 years later

You see RedXIII running with his kids past Midgar which is now in ruins and tons of flowers growing around it.
