MMA Discussion - Strikeforce & UFC on FX2 Preview

It's time!!!!!  Tonight starts the Flyweight (125) Tournament in the UFC, and tomorrow should be the "Fight of the Century" in Women's MMA, then Mainstream MMA takes a break for 6 weeks (unless you're into Bellator).

Saturday:  3/3/2012 - Strikeforce - "Tate vs Rousey"

Just to let you know I'll be watching this fight with 1 hand.

"Rowdy" Ronda Rousey

What UFC middleweight Rousimar Palhares is to the heel hook, Ronda Rousey is to the armbar, as all seven of her victims have succumbed to some variation of the hold.  Rousey is an 2008 Olympic Bronze medalist in Judo.  She's also a great fighter who wins every fight in less than a minute.  But that's not why she's trending....it's because she is the female equivalent of Chael Sonnen.  She runs her mouth like she's a pro wrestler but @ least backs it up.

Miesha Tate

A representative of Team Alpha Male, Tate employs a strategy not unlike that of some of her male counterparts at the well-respected California gym. Her standup is not overwhelming, but it is effective enough to allow her to land combinations and close the distance for takedowns. She is a female Faber, Mendes, Dillashaw, etc.

Who wins and why? "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey by Submission
Miesha Tate will probably take this fight past the 1 minute mark but I think she makes a crucial mistake and gets submitted in the 2nd round.  Tates good on top, but Ronda is great off her back......

*Bonus Edit*
I went to the Youtube channel to read the comments on the video and some were pretty hilarious.

"This saturday I'll be "pulling" for both fighters...if you know what I mean ;)"
"I can't fucking wait to fap and fap and fap and fap and fap an enjoy this FIGHT!"
"takes fisting too a whole new level"

Tonight:  3/2/2012 - UFC on FX 2 Preview
With so much MMA going on lately, a few of you probably forgot about the 125 division the UFC recently established.  2 Fighters you know fighting 2 fighters you don't know (but will know eventually).  Also the main event (Thiago Alves vs Martin Kampmann) looks pretty good.

Thiago Alves vs Martin Kampmann - Alves by Split Decision
125 Tournament - Joseph Benavidez vs. Yasuhiro Urushitani - Benavidez by Submission
125 Tournament - Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson vs. Ian "Uncle Creepy" McCall - Uncle Creepy by Nickname / Johnson by Decision.

  1. hah, they screwed up the scoring so bad on mighty mouse. The judge actually tallied up the scorecards wrong. It was supposed to be a majority draw. Now they have to have a rematch. If he would've added them up correctly they would've fought a 4th round to have a definitive winner.

  2. roy nelson says he'll drop to light heavyweight if 100,000 people like him on facebook. He already has 40,000. I think the deadline is 2 weeks though.

  4. now Roy's fighting "Bigfoot" Silva at heavyweight. I bet if he wins he won't drop to LHW.
